Here’s a fun one for you guys. The 1988 mail-in offer for the G.I. Joe Super Trooper action figure (see yojoe.com) in its complete comic form. The artwork is just okay, the story extremely brief and basic, and everything I see here leaves me wondering why I ever even wanted one of these toys.

Oh. That’s right. It was the vac-metallized feature of the figure and accessories. Man, I really fell for some stupid marketing tricks when I was a kid. (Bah. I still do. I’m a sucker for shiny sometimes.)

For more on the Super Trooper see this recent post at The Fwoosh. If you just want to see more of the mail-away offers of the past then take a look at Each Sold Separately*.

  1. The thrill of receiving a toy in the mail was enough to sucker me in back then. In fact, I still get that thrill when I buy a toy on eBay and wait for it to arrive. Hasbro and Kenned ruined me for life!
