G.I. Joe Zombie Viper at San Diego Comic Con

A few days ago I mentioned the upcoming G.I. Joe Zombie Viper (mentioned here) and this morning I finally took the time to get my own photos of the toy online. What makes this set of pics different from those I linked to earlier is that when I walked by the display the Zombie Viper’s right arm was swapped out for the long, twisted, and bizarre attachment. A cool play feature and it just makes me want at least one of these action figures when it is released next year.

It’s hard to tell without holding and playing with the toy, but it looks to me like the Zombie Viper’s arm swaps out at the elbow. I’m not completely clear on what the arm shown in these photos is for, but I suspect that it’s some bizarre form of attack that allows the Zombie Viper to lash out and snare opponents.

The photo below gives a good view of the Zombie Viper’s helmet — which I assume is for controlling the mindless warrior — and a peek at the canisters that are jammed into the Zombie Viper’s back. Those canisters look massive in relation to the figure’s body and are my only complaint with what I can see so far; I feel like the toy would have looked better if those canisters had been half the size that they are.

The last photo I shot of the Zombie Viper gives us an okay look at the figure’s facial sculpt. Not bad for a mindless monster, but I’m looking forward to seeing how the toy looks with that helmet on because I suspect it makes the action figure look more like a Viper.

And the last thing I want to know is: Will there be a Zombie Viper leader and, if there is, what does he look like?

  1. The Zombie Viper is now my new favorite cobra viper! I want 50! I paint minitures as a hobby and will add paint to give them a more differentiated look.

  2. I think the arm attachment may be a nod toward the bio-vipers on g.i. joe renegades, since they could stretch and lash their arms out. However, that is just a guess. It looks like the swivel joint on the left forearm is there to swap it out with that other piece laying next to him.
