Review – Iron Man Gold Helmet Replica

Does anyone remember when this Iron Man Gold Helmet Replica* went on sale at Entertainment Earth? Well, at about 75% off I jumped at the helmet and it is now a massive — and impressive — piece of the Iron Man collection in our living room. And since I look at it every day I thought it might be a good idea to snap a couple of photos and show the helmet to everyone out there who may one day want an Iron Man helmet of their own.

Shiny!

Made of steel, this wearable helmet — and yes, I have tried it on — is so shiny that the photos I took are almost all glare and reflection. I tried snapping shots of the helmet in my light tent, many times, but the surface is so shiny that every single photo clearly showed the light tent’s frame — and my garage, where I have the tent — reflected in the metal. So instead you get a couple of low-budget shots of the helmet in my living room. My only complaint with how shiny the helmet is that it’s going to require constant polishing. But it looks neat enough that I’m willing to tackle it with a cloth every month or so to keep it sparkling.

Not For Everyone

Originally priced at $400, I’ll fully admit that this Iron Man Gold Helmet Replica* is an expensive statue-like prop. And even now, at Entertainment Earth, it’s over $300. But at the less than $100 I paid for the helmet I think it was an awesome buy; under lights and surrounded by Iron Man statues and action figures it looks great.

Basically, you’re either in the market for expensive objecs or you’re not, and nothing I say will change your budget or your mind. But since I did buy this when it was on sale I figured a few of you would like a quick peek at the helmet. So enjoy the shots and check back later for a review of a far more reasonably-priced collectible.

Philip Reed has some other large pieces in his collection that should be reviewed. But maybe later, because it’s likely time to focus on some collectibles that are actually affordable.
