Figma Black Rock Shooter Strength Quick Thoughts

My very first Black Rock Shooter toy, the Figma Strength* action figure, has arrived and I’ve opened the box and started playing with the action figure. Expect a real review, but for now here are my immediate thoughts after a few minutes posing the toy and swapping out parts.

Needed More Clear Stands

The Ogre Arms that are included with the toy are fantastic, but the weight is way more than the joints can handle. The box includes black posts that plug into the arms to support the weight, but to make the toy look really cool when displayed they should have included two more of the clear stands. Those black posts hanging from the arms will not look attractive.

Poseable!

The first thing I think of when playing with the toy is the Revoltech series and how poseable those toys are. The Figma joints, while not identical, have a lot of a similar feel and seem to work really well. If those Ogre Arms weren’t so heavy the joints would work great for posing the toy. As it is the joints are adequate, but not up to the challenge of the weight of the arms. Ratchet joints in the shoulders would have worked a lot better.

Neat!

Figma Strength* hasn’t been in my hands for very long but I’m already impressed. The sculpt looks good, the arms are even cooler in person than I expected, and I’m really looking forward to sitting down with the toy and putting together a real review with good photos.

I Want More

Yeah, if the other Figma Black Rock Shooter action figures are this neat in hand then I definitely want more of them. Great character designs and a nice, professional feel when held and posed. I just hope that there’s a way to grab more clear stands because I can already tell that you can never have enough of these stands when you’re dealing with action figures with arms, guns, and swords as huge as they pack in with the Black Rock Shooter toys.

  1. Missed out on Shooter and Dead Master, but I’m thinking about grabbing Strength and Beast anyway – Beast is a must simply for the artbook that comes with her.

Really looking forward to the review.

  2. @Iron Panda – I’m shocked at how pricey Shooter and Dead Master are. I guess this is still a pretty popular series of toys; and I can see why because Strength is a lot of fun.
