Sweet Eats: Visiting a Panaderia in Cozumel

This last Saturday, Gina and I spent the day exploring Cozumel, Mexico. We played tourists and walked from the pier to the Cozumel downtown, taking our time to explore the shops. And as we’ve done on other trips to foreign countries we investigated the grocery stores; seriously, if you want to have a blast in a foreign country never miss the chance to go off of the tourist trail and explore the places where the locals shop and eat.

In Austin we always love going to Chuy Bakery (see Chowhound) for tortas and empanadas. So when we spotted the panaderia corner of one of the grocery stores (we went into two) we just had to grab a snack. Awesome and tasty! And since I am a geek I snapped some photos of the offerings. I wanted to try them all!

And while searching online I came across La Mexican Bakery — also in Austin — so now I know a new place that Gina and I need to check out . . . but not for a few weeks; I gained six pounds while on the four night cruise. Too much good food!
