Spotted Online – M.U.S.C.L.E. and Nestle Quik

While exploring The U of M.U.S.C.L.E. (blog, Twitter) for information on The M.U.S.C.L.E. Mega-Match Game (mentioned here) I came across just one of the articles that shows why the U of M.U.S.C.L.E. of so much damned fun: Advertising & Promotion 300 – M.U.S.C.L.E. and Nestle Quik goes into detail on this promotion where free M.U.S.C.L.E. toys were packed in cans of Nestle Quik . . . and there are a ton of photos of ads, cans, and toys. Yeah, this website is a hell of a lot of fun.

  1. I drank as much Nestle Quick as my Mom would buy when this promo came out. Sadly, that was only a couple cans.

We lived in Utah at the time. Mormons tend to have a lot of food stockpiled (for the end of the world I assume) and my pal’s mom had bought a ton of these and stacked them in the basement.

I mean there had to have been fifty at least! All of them taunting me with their ‘free MUSCLE’ logo emblazoned on the front.

I tried to talk him into cracking them open, just for the figures of course, but no dice. He did ask his mom but she said no, that it would make the contents go bad (does this shit even expire?)

Moral of the story, if you know any Mormons, check their basements. You might find a can or fifty waiting for you…and the apocalypse!
