G.I. Joe: Retaliation Toys in Stores

Over the last few days I have been snapping pics of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation toys in Targets and Wal-Marts between Dallas and Austin. I’ve now posted sixteen pics at Flickr so that anyone who hasn’t had a look at the line can see what’s on shelves now . . . despite the fact that the movie has been bumped to 2013.

Knowing that these were likely to become scarce once the shelves are cleared I considered grabbing a Zartan, Cobra Trooper, and a Cobra Commander, but holding the packages in my hands and looking closely at them I just couldn’t make the jump to buy them. You see, I was also looking at the Power Attack Batman series (pics posted here) at the same time and Batman for $9 looks like a much better deal than G.I. Joe at $9.

Anyway, if you’re wanting the G.I. Joe: Retaliation toys visit every Target and Wal-Mart in your area and you should be able to find what you want. I saw lots of toys sitting on shelves waiting to go home . . . or for Hasbro’s “recall” orders to be followed. We’ll see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

  1. How do you feel about the paint jobs on these figures? I’ve passed on them a couple of times now because the paint aps seem a bit sparse and simple.

  2. The figures are different to what we’ve seen recently from the line but that doesn’t mean they’re not good. The Ninja 3-packs are really good (with a fantastic Snake Eyes) and of the single carded figures the Zartan (the only one I’ve snagged so far) is pretty neat. Like I say, different but also cool.

  3. I’m not rushing out to grab these up. I only buy SE & SS figures anyway. I’m more excited about the Dollar General figures right now more than anything, and I haven’t actively collected anything Joe in the last 3 years.

  4. I still have the single carded Zartan plus the three-pack Beachhead, Kamakura and Storm Shadow to get through but I may have to move the Joe Trooper to Monday and then shove the rest to later in the week.

  5. Toysrus had a buy one get the second one half off sale yesterday(not sure how long it runs) and I picked up Cobra Commander and Snake-Eyes. Selection was very slim as I did not want a Duke who was a peg warmer.
