Unofficial Accessories for Unofficial Insecticons
While working on Transforming Collections (Kickstarter project page) this last weekend I pulled down the Fansproject unofficial Insecticons (quick pics here) and kept at them until I managed to get all three transformed into their insect modes. I absolutely love the robot modes on these guys, but the transformations can get so frustrating in spots that I’m not likely to transform them often.
But, as I said, I love the robot modes. So much, in fact, that I’ve now ordered unofficial accessories for these unofficial Transformers toys. Over at the Shapeways site a search for fansproject insect brings us four accessories: three weapons and a set of new mandibles for Thundershred, the unofficial Shrapnel. I’ll have to clean and paint these when they arrive, but with any luck the pieces will be awesome and make these great robots even more like the original Insecticons.

Yeah, I have Bombshell, he’s so awesome. They’re great figures but I’m glad Shapeways has guns for them, the whole “ninja” thing doesn’t quite vibe with me that much.
Shapeways has some amazing designers working on Transformer stuff. I picked up the cassette figures for WFC Soundwave, and the Neutron Assault Rifle from the game as well!
