Review – Titan Hero Wolverine

wolverine

If you’ve seen my reviews of the Titan Hero Iron Man and Titan Hero Spider-Man action figures then you know how much I’m enjoying these $10 action figures. Hasbro has really created a fantastic deal for parents searching for toys and I’m not surprised at all to see this line expanding. After all, when parents are shopping for kids the $10 value of these massive action figures really makes them stand out when compared to almost any other action figure on the shelf. Just look at the size of these things!

Limited Articulation

Not quite the “Kenner Five,” but close. We get a ball-jointed neck, swivel hips and shoulders, and swivel wrists for a total of seven points of articulation. But do you really need more than that if you’re five or six years old and running around with a near-foot tall Wolverine action figure? I don’t think so. This guy’s perfect for his price point and for kids who want a Wolverine action figure.

Very Rough Paint

Hey, when the MSRP is $10 on a toy of this size something’s going to suffer. Well, on Wolverine that would be the paint apps. There’s some slop everywhere — the worst seems to be the blue mask — but when you’re displaying the toy on a tall shelf the errors kinda vanish. And I’m betting the kid running through his neighborhood doesn’t care about the paint apps. Hey, that kid is armed with a giant Wolverine! And at a price that’s low enough he may just get a Hulk next week.

A Great Series!

Are these amazing action figures that put standard 12-inch action figures to shame? Not at all! But they’re an incredible value and I like them so much that even though the Wolverine shown in these pics is officially dead — he fell from a shelf about seven feet up and so far all I’ve found are bits the dogs chewed — I’m going to grab a replacement one. And at $10 I can do that and not feel too bad at all that Wolverine leaped to his death.

Do not buy these if you’re after lots of articulation and great paint. Only grab the toys in this line if the idea of something similar to the old Kenner action figures — only much larger! — appears to you. The best thing about the line has to be the price. Two in this series will cost you what one Star Wars Black action figure costs . . . and these are much more noticeable on the shelves.
