Gentle Giant (website, Twitter) does amazing work, and this SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett Mini Bust* is simply one more example of the incredible statues the company produces. And since the only other Boba Fett statue in my collection is the concept bust (review here) I didn’t hesitate to order when the exclusive bust was released earlier this year. Let’s take a look at what I got!

7.25-Inches Tall and Remarkable

The pics here don’t really do the bust justice, since you cannot truly appreciate this work of art in two-dimensions; you need to see this in the real world to really understand just what level of craftsmanship and skill was poured into the statue’s design. From the pouches to the helmet to the blaster to even the Wookie scalps every detail is perfect and it’s statues like this that scare me: I get my hands on an incredible statue and then I have to avoid the temptation to search the web for other statues I may have missed. Opening a Gentle Giant bust always carries a cost . . . hmmmm, I don’t own this Gentle Giant Boba Fett statue* . . .

Articulated Head!

The SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett Mini Bust* features an articulated head so that, as the photos show, you can modify the look of the statue by changing its facing. It’s a great feature and I wish more statues — especially those with optional limbs — used this trick because it really lends some fun to the design.

And it appears to be some sort of ball joint at the neck, because the head twists and turns and bobs and weaves beautifully. You can get the “cocked head” look, twist Boba to look left or right, and there’s even enough up and down motion to make me wish that all statues included an articulated neck. Awesome work, Gentle Giant! More!

Paint

Perfect is too strong a word to describe the paint apps on this SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett Mini Bust*, but I’m using “perfect” because I have no argument with using that word when paint apps are this amazing. If you do not normally click on the photos in my reviews then do so this time around; you want to enlarge all of the pics to their full size to really enjoy the quality of paintwork Gentle Giant sunk into this statue.

Two Left Arms

The first photos shown in this review show the SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett Mini Bust* with its left arm supporting the blaster. That arm pops out and a replacement arm — with the wrist rocket ready for action — slots right in. Magnets! This is close to the same pose that Gentle Giant used for their concept Boba Fett bust (review here) so I’ll be displaying this one with the rifle-holding arm, but I have to admit that the wrist rocket firing arm look is fantastic. And the option to display either way? Sweet! Thank you, Gentle Giant, for really going overboard with your designs.

Closing Thoughts

I know that not everyone collects statues, but any Boba Fett fan out there — even if you don’t typically collect statues — needs this SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett Mini Bust* on the shelf. Great work from Gentle Giant — as always happens with their statues — and I fully expect the price to climb and climb on this one because it is so well-produced. I can say without any hesitation at all that I am glad I grabbed one.

Now I just wish I had the animated Boba Fett statue they made a few years ago. Why is that not already on my shelf?
