Review – Adventure Kartel Zombkin
After my recent reviews of the KA Mumb (review here) and HoodZomb (review here) action figures from the Adventure Kartel series I decided to open the Zombkin. Reaching me over a year ago, the 12-inch scale Zombkin action figure has been living in my office — in his box! — this entire time. I only snapped the tie that was holding him to the packing card a few days ago, and now it’s time to see what I’ve been missing for the last year.
Basic Body
Using the stock Adventure Kartel series (Amazon.com search*) zombie body, the Zombkin’s new pieces come down clothing and the jack ‘o lantern headsculpt. You really should read my Shadow Zomb review and HoodZomb review to learn all about the toy hiding beneath the clothes.
An Insanely Strong Smell
Much like earlier 3A toys — especially their World War Robot series (Amazon.com search*) action figures — the Zombkin smells awful. It’s like an oil refinery when you open the box, and the best I can hope for is that sitting behind glass in the living room won’t cause everything else on the shelf to smell this bad.
Love that Zombkin Head
How can one not love a pumpkin-headed action figure? Looking like a twisted and disturbed relative of Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz (see Wikipedia), the Zombkin action figure instantly caught my eye when it was announced because I have an unhealthy love for Jack ‘o Lantern-headed characters. The only think that would have made the head even better than it is would have been the addition of LEDs inside the noggin, but that would have also drove the cost up so I’ll just keep dreaming of an LED-infused Zombkin and not expect one.
Using What I’ve Got
When sitting down to snap pics of the Zombkin I knew I wanted to get some backgrounds in a few shots, so I took advantage of what was close by. That included the same Action Figure Displays city display that I used with the unofficial Bruce Willis figure earlier this week (Art Figures City Police review here) and it included using the World War Robot book* in two of the shots. What I did was set the book at the back of the light tent, posed the Zombkin up front, and then snapped away. Both this pic and this one used the WWR book as the background.
His Pants Are Too Short!
The Adventure Kartel series (Amazon.com search*) action figures usually have perfect clothing, but with the Zombkin I feel that his pants are too short since they don’t conceal that ankle joint. This is a very minor complaint, but I personally would have preferred that the pants hang all of the way down and touch the shoes.

All three are worth a look, and after seeing the Luv Life Toys pics of the shirt flipped around I kinda want to find a new shirt for my Zombkin; the plain shirt looks (to me) much nicer than the illustrated shirt the toy is wearing.
