Review – Hot Wheels Hammered Coupe

hammered

It has been a long time since I posted a Hot Wheels review to the site, but fans of diecast toy cars very likely cheered when they spotted this Hammered Coupe waiting for them on battlegrip.com. Released in 1999, this is the original version of the Hammered Coupe and at 14 years old is one of the older toys we’re likely to look at this month. (Unless, of course, I dig out more of the old Kenner Legends of Batman and Legends of the Dark Knight action figures.)

Lean and Purple!

I’ve no idea what real car could have been the inspiration for the Hammered Coupe, but regardless of reality’s impact on the design this is one hot Hot Wheels hot rod. Hugging the ground, tapering to a point, the Hammered Coupe looks great and I had no hesitations opening the old packaging to get at the toy inside.

It’s Over Already?

Hey, just how long do you expect me to ramble on about what is essentially a chunk of metal and some plastic? The photos tell the real story here, and with some digging you should have zero problems finding a Hammered Coupe for a couple of bucks. Either the design speaks to you or it doesn’t, and the photos posted here should be all you need to decide whether or not you want one. It’s a quality toy, inexpensive, and very cool.
