Review – Power Lords Lord Power

powerlords

NOTE: This toy was provided by the manufacturer. Thank you!

Available for pre-order now at the Four Horsemen webstore, this Lord Power action figure is beautifully packaged and part of the first wave of packaged Power Lords action figures. Most of the basic figure shares tooling with the Ophidian Squad Elite figure (review here), so today you can expect more pics than words. That’s how it goes sometimes.

A Shirtless Lord

The Lord Power action figure’s two new parts are the shirtless torso and the head. The Adam Power figure uses completely different parts from this toy (and shares more tooling with the Opidian Squad Elite) so you can grab both to get two completely takes on the classic Power Lords main character.

Not surprisingly (considering how many DC Universe Classics and Masters of the Universe Classics action figures the Four Horsemen have designed) the muscled chest of Lord Power looks great, and with these parts the Four Horsemen are quick working toward a fairly generic male buck they should be able to use for many projects. Actually, staring at this has me now wishing the guys would take a stab at designing their own superhero toys.

Lots of paint!

Yeah, the packaged wave of figures from the Four Horsemen are clearly the toys for the hardcore collectors who want traditional action figures. Not only are the packages great, but the paint apps are a bit more detailed than we’ve seen with earlier Power Lords releases. Lord Power’s face isn’t 100% perfect, but trust me when I say the pics here aren’t what you see in real life at actual size; these are perfectly playable and collectible toys every bit as good as the majority of the Hasbro 3.75-inch scale figures on my shelves.

Closing Thoughts

If you’ve already been grabbing the Four Horsemen’s Power Lords action figures then you know exactly what to expect from Lord Power: Fun, well-articulated, wonderfully-crafted action figures from industry professionals who are pouring a lot of love for the classic property into the new figure designs. If ever there was a passion project this is it. And it really shows when you start looking at this wave of packaged figures.
