1986 Transformers Commercial Featuring Metroplex and the Combaticons

As I kid I owned only a few of the Combaticons, but during the summer of 1986 I did buy a Metroplex for myself and was amazed at the size of the toy. Now it in no way compares to the Transformers Generations Metroplex*, but that original Metroplex robot was a beast to carry around and play with and I still know every step of the transformation process (which was actually pretty basic and not at all complicated).

As for the Combaticons, over the years I’ve managed to collect a few different takes on this combiner team, most recently picking up the first three in the unofficial Warbotron series. Can’t wait for the last two pieces to come out so I can see this not-Bruticus completely combined; theoretically the last two toys in the series will be in my hands by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!

  1. My brother and I got our neighbor’s cast-off Metroplex after it broke at the waist. I hated when Transformers did that. (Happened to Mirage too)
