Kickstarter – Lost Protectors at 50% of Goal

If you’re a fan of action figures then right now’s a good time to take a peek at Kickstarter. In addition to the Four Horsemen’s Mythic Legions project there’s also the Transformers Pretender-inspired action figure project from Play With This Too: Lost Protectors.

Now as I go over the project again I find it all just a little more confusing than I’d like. The toys are looking fairly neat, but someone behind Kickstarter projects (many Kickstarter projects; this is common across so very many projects that it’s uncommon not to offer the kitchen sink) needs to take the time to read The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less* and start making these projects less confusing for the average consumer.

When faced with dozens of options some people — those who have a casual interest in the project — switch off and disengage. If some of these Kickstarter projects were easier to understand there would be a larger number of supporters. For example, the recent Exploding Kittens project made the choices very simple. Very, very simple.

Anyway, congrats to Lost Protectors for hitting 50%. Now to go the rest of the way!

  1. KISS principle — keep it simple stupid. I’d like to think that I’m a somewhat “invested” collector who is “plugged in”, but reading some of these even I get very confused.

    1. @PrfktTear – I think the issue is offering all of that original artwork. It explodes the number of reward levels and makes it tough to scroll through without feeling overwhelmed.

  2. I’m worried that many people interested have not yet pledged because they want to see if the ‘Strikes or other goals will be available.

I went ahead and pledged what will probably be my full amount for the stretch goals I want instead of going with the wait and see approach.
