‘Masters Of The Universe’ Are Also Market Masters

MotU Day 3

Well this article certainly offers up a point of view that didn’t seem all that common at the time. Credited to the Orlando Sentinel, this article from the June 10, 1984 issue of the Toledo Blade paints a fairly positive picture of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe action figures and the Filmation cartoon series.

“Whatever the day’s story line, however, there’s always a “pro-social” message — being responsible for one’s actions, the value of teamwork and cooperation — that is drawn from the story, not merely tacked on.”

The article also talks about Mattel’s success with the toyline, pointing out that the toys were selling quickly when they reached toy shelves and that the line’s success had created imitation toys. A positive and fun read for this year’s He-Man Day festivities!

  1. Thanks for the list of latest paperback releases! I’m heading out to the shop to pick a few of these up right now!

And a special value on King’s Island passes? We had season passes for there when I was a kid and lived in Cincinnati for a year.

These old papers are just too good!
