Spotted Online – Vintage-Style Star Wars Death Star Diorama/Playset

A few days ago I posted about an Imperial Bunker that is quite impressive. Lots of detail and it’s clear the project took a lot of work. Awesome design!

No less impressive is this small Death Star display that was created to go with Kenner Star Wars action figures. It may look simplistic, but I am betting that designing and constructing this diorama piece wasn’t at all as easy as you may first guess. I love the design, and it would be great to see Hasbro offer up a license to Funko so that they could build pieces like this for the ReAction Figures line. It’s unlikely to happen. I guess I’ll just sit back and enjoy the fact that there are customizers out there making these for us to enjoy at a distance.

  1. I love playsets and dioramas more now than I think I ever did as a kid. Sadly they seem to be less and less in vogue (probably due to production costs) with the exception of perhas Lego.

    1. @Wolf – Playsets are bought to be played with. Action figures are bought to be posed. We can tell what’s getting real time with kids: lines with playsets.

      Proof? Look at Hot Wheels!
