Hasbro’s G.I. Joe aircraft carrier playset of the eighties is one of those toys that I’ll never own. Even if I managed to find one at a price I could afford there would be a problem: Where do you even put this monster of a playset? Seriously, Hasbro, your marketing and design teams in the eighties sure knew how to make a statement with one hell of a giant toy. Will we ever see anything like this released in stores again?
Even when it was new, the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier playset was a pricey item. The 1986 clearance price in this newspaper ad is $89.99 which translates to $196.10 in today’s dollars. And that’s the clearance price!!!
