More 1983 Dungeons & Dragons Candy Trading Cards

I’ve posted about the Dungeons & Dragons candy from the eighties twice now (back in 2012 and yesterday), and being someone who can’t leave things alone I set off in search of more information on the candy line. It didn’t take long at all to find this Tome of Treasures post where user Chromatic-Knight has shared more images of the packaging, including the trading cards printed on the backs of the packages.

Does anyone else remember when trading cards were printed on packages and we were meant to cut out the cards? That still happens these days (see this 2013 post), but it feels to me like printing trading cards on packaging is far less common today than it was when I was a kid. Hell, this ad from 1978 even shows us that trading cards on packages was so common that Hostess promoted their baseball cards in comic books.

Would trading cards on packages be a draw these days? Probably not, but that doesn’t stop me from now running through various scenarios in my head and trying to come up with another worthless idea.
