NECA’s New Alien Club
The new NECA x Alien club sounds to me like a fantastic idea in today’s crowded marketplace. Few retailers carry a deep stock on most action figure lines, finding a specific figure in stores can sometimes be a challenge, and the opportunity to get an exclusive club figure at the end of the year makes the new Alien club awfully attractive. Hell, even I am looking seriously at this, and I don’t even buy all that many Alien figures.
NECA Club x Alien is an exclusive club aimed at the hardcore, completionist Alien action figure collector. Membership provides advance access to all of NECA’s Alien action figure releases, including convention and retail exclusives, with special bonuses:
- surprise Club-only bonus items shipped with select releases;
- an end-of-year Club-exclusive figure for qualifying members;

Interesting idea. If they manage to get collectors what they want at reasonable prices this could be a really good think. I’ve been waiting to see if more companies would go this route in light of what Mattycollector accomplished. I know the G.I. Joe collector’s club has done this, but it’s insanely expensive!
Wow! I hadn’t realized they’d made such detailed versions in the 7″ line. That astronaut figure looks incredible!
It’s actually a sensible idea for brands like NECA, as it allows them to offer figures to the select collectors of that line along with some unique exclusives, while not making the toys specifically for that market (like MOTU Classic.)
I’m curious to see if they try it for other brands.
I like the idea — I could see them doing something similar for the Predators line in future too.
That’s kind of what I was thinking too. I’d love to see this done with their Predators too.
