Spotted Online – 1962 Matchbox Micro-Documentary

Posted over three years ago, this micro-documentary shows us how Matchbox toy cars were once built. You see all of that hand labor as people are sorting and painting the toys? Well, as much as some manufacturing is automated these days, my experience in Chinese factories shows me that there is still a lot of work done by hand in making things.   1. The waste is ”easily removed.” Tell that to the poor buggers who had to sit for 12 hours a day manually grabbing it off the conveyor!

    And I love that there’s a guy just wandering around the work floor with a bowl of molten metal…
