Star Wars Dagobah Playset on Sale in 1982

December 12, 1982. Here we find a $5 coupon for Kenner’s Dagobah playset, a toy I’ve written about a few times before. It’s not a terrible toy at all, but I can say that it was advertising that led to me owning the playset when I was a kid. In Each Sold Separately* I said of the toy:

Saturday, June 12, 1982. While watching cartoons the day before my birthday (I turned ten in 1982) I saw the commercial for Kenner’s Star Wars Dagobah Playset. Later that day, while out with my parents, I was told I could select one toy as my birthday gift. With the commercial still fresh in my mind I grabbed the Dagobah Playset and forever burned into my core the idea that advertising and marketing matter. A lot.

What is sad is that I now kinda miss the playset. Hey, the Yoda action figure on the shelf behind me needs a proper home, right?
