Star Wars Miniatures Sets in 1988
One of the things that the West End Games Star Wars roleplaying game (Amazon.com search*) brought to us back in the eighties was official Star Wars miniatures.
Sure, the world had seen unofficial Star Wars miniatures before 1988, but getting the official minis from West End Games and Grenadier was a pretty big deal at the time. And if you search for these today, after seeing this 1988 ad from Dragon magazine, please don’t blame me for the prices.

Never got into RPGs but if I had to choose one now, it would probably be Star Wars.
I have a few Star Wars minis but never could track down an affordable box set (plus I was a poor college student!) when they were in stores.
