Hasbro certainly had no problems using a popular series to promote a new line, as we see in this Battle Beasts advertisement from a 1987 issue of G.I. Joe magazine. The Battle Beasts toys never were a great success here in the US, but few children of the eighties don’t remember the rub sign and rock, paper, scissors-like gameplay of the Battle Beasts toys.
