3AGO, 3A Toys Announces Mego-Like Action Figures (Again?)

Yesterday at the World of 3A site Ashley Wood announced plans for 3AGO, new 8-inch Mego-like action figures. The 8-inch scale could be very nice — if 3A doesn’t simply resize their 12-inch and 6-inch scale figures to a new size — but as I read the announcement I couldn’t help but feel as if I’d already known this was happening.

First, from the latest announcement, comes:

I think most people know I love the MEGO 8″ figures of old, something about the size and fun of them has never left me cold! So I figure if I have the setup in place to make my own, why not!

Back in September of 2012, as shown in this Infinite Hollywood post, 3A Toys announced their plans for 8-inch scale, Mego-like action figures. The Infinite Hollywood post from 2012 states:

What is 3AGO? Well it’s 3A’s version of 8 inch Mego figures. We don’t know what they’ll look like or what kind of articulation or design they’ll have. As is the norm with 3A, we may not know exactly what these figures are like until they’re shipped… But Ashley Wood has said he’s a big Mego fan and still collects them to this day.

So yesterday’s announcement feels more like a re-announce of something, but maybe 2014 will be the year 3AGO takes off and fans of Mego-like action figures get to add another brand to their collections. We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but if you’d like to see responses to the 2012 announcement check this Mego Museum thread where hardcore Mego fans weigh in on the possibilities.
