Lollipop Chainsaw at the SXSW ScreenBurn Arcade

I spent almost ten hours at the SXSW ScreenBurn Arcade yesterday teaching and selling games, but since it’s no fun to spend all of my time working at a show I also wandered around a bit and checked out the other booths. My absolute favorite game title and booth design had to be Lollipop Chainsaw, a cheerleaders vs zombies game scheduled for release this summer. I pre-ordered Lollipop Chainsaw for XBox 360* after playing the demo (and the game is coming for PS3*) and can report that it’s as silly as you would expect from the theme.

Click through to see Lollipop Chainsaw photos I took yesterday — including a shot of the lollipop they were giving to anyone who pre-ordered the game — and then see the Lollipop Chainsaw website for the trailer. And there’s also a Lollipop Chainsaw Twitter account you can follow if you like everything you see about the game.

School bus? Yep, the game’s demo is played inside the bus. They had four systems up and running and were running a short game demo that took me about six or seven minutes to finish. You run around the school hacking up zombies and rescuing classmates all while collecting lollipops for life and trying to save your boyfriend. Trust me, this game is in no way serious . . . but it was enough fun that I’ll own a copy when it is released.

  1. This game looks like a lot of fun. Its getting a ton of buzz too. What caught my attention is that James Euringer aka Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence did the soundtrack!

  2. @PrfktTear – With any luck they’ll have a different demo at PAX East next month so that I can give the game another try. What they had to play this last weekend was fun; I don’t remember the soundtrack, though. I was too busy chainsawing zombies!

  3. sweet! i know a few people who will be attending pax east. i’ve never been myself. would you be interested at all in a meet-up? maybe mr. poe ghostal would be as well.
