Action Figure Market Shrinking?

This is not at all accurate or scientific.

While working on something completely unrelated I found myself at Google Trends and decided to enter “action figures” into the search box. The results were a little surprising . . . but maybe not too surprising, since the cost of action figures continues to climb. But are the price increases pushing action figures out of the market, or are people just not searching for action figures online these days and instead going direct to physical stores?

  1. You know, I’ve never really considered buying action figures online. It’s not because of some anti-internet thing, I guess I figure if I want a figure I can go to the store and pick it up immediately rather than wait. Of course, if you need a specific figure then I can see online scouring but otherwise I just keep to the retail stores…same goes with my Hot Wheels too. I know a lot of guys that buy/trade online but I just settle for what is local…plus I think that makes me spend less 🙂

  2. I hardly ever buy action figures at retail stores anymore, because very little that I collect can actually be found there, even if you’re lucky 🙂
