Star Wars Expanded Universe Profiles

Kenner’s 1998 Star Wars Expanded Universe series is often overlooked, and this page from the August, 1998 issue of Lee’s Action Figure News and Toy Review (Amazon.com search*) has me now wondering exactly why these toys seem to have dropped in popularity and value. Even as recently as six years ago that Dark Trooper was going for about $30 (see my review from 2009), but today these can be grabbed for as little as $10.

Odd. The Dark Trooper wasn’t the greatest action figure of all time, but to see it drop in value this much has me trying to figure out what changed. Are there fewer collectors today, or did someone bust open several cases and flood the market with MOC copies of the figure?
