IDW’s X-Files Boardgame
The X-Files boardgame (at Entertainment Earth* is slowly working its way through my skull as I prepare a review. Kevin Wilson’s a fantastic designer, and combining his game design skills with IDW’s fantastic art and graphic design capabilities leads to an incredible game.
Game reviews take significantly more work than toy reviews, mostly because game reviews require a group of people and multiple playthroughs to really get things right. But game reviews can also be a lot more rewarding than toy reviews; the social joy of playing a game often exceeds the introverted and solitary act of posing, abusing, and studying a toy for review.
One thing I think I am going to try with this review is not posting it here at battlegrip.com. I’ll definitely post here when the review is live, but I’ve been spending a lot of time exploring Medium and this game review feels like the perfect opportunity to seriously try out the Medium Medium site. If you’ve not yet seen the site I suggest scanning through it . . . if you enjoy longform essays about all sorts of things.
