Review – Matchbox Sky Busters Twin Blast

While not an exact copy of the jet from Firefox (Wikipedia), the Twin Blast from the Matchbox Sky Busters series (Amazon.com search*) is pretty close to that fictional jet. And it’s every bit as cool as the last two toys in the series I’ve already reviewed — Matchbox Sky Busters Stealth Launch review here, Matchbox Sky Busters A-10 review here — and makes me even more excited to try some other jets in the series.

Fantastic Design

This 4.5-inch long toy jet is made of metal and plastic and really is close to the design of the Firefox jet. There are minor differences here and there — especially the wings — but it’s the only version of the jet I’ve got and it’s kinda neat that Mattel released a jet slightly-inspired by a movie from thirty years ago. 30 years? Man, I’m gonna have a hard time resisting the urge to run down the “back in my day” rant. Regardless of the source of the inspiration this is one great jet design.

Enjoy the Pics

The Twin Blast, like the other jets in the Matchbox Sky Busters series (Amazon.com search*), is a cool toy that’s well made and perfect for anyone who loves toy jets. These sell for between $3 and $4 at most stores and the construction and size are well worth that price.

Take a look at the photos and then rush out to the store and take a look at the series. If you like the pics I’ve posted then there’s an excellent chance you’ll be happy with the actual toys.

Philip Reed wishes he had an excellent way to display the jets. He really needs to find a stand that works well with the Sky Busters series.
