Spotted Online – Unofficial Transformers Rumble and Frenzy Video Review

My luck with unofficial Transformers manufacturer BTS hasn’t been all that great. Their Sonicron toy (last mentioned here) collects dust on my shelf and I’ve never completely transformed it to video camera mode while their Matrix of Leadership set (last mentioned here) was a letdown.

Still, they’re transforming cassettes, Tremor and Frequenzy interest me because . . . well, because they’re transforming cassettes. And now there’s a video review by Protoman that leaves me completely undecided; these toys look both cool and ugly all at the same time. I hate when that happens.

Anyway, if you like how these look they’re currently available at Big Bad Toy Store, Robot Kingdom, and are available to pre-order at TFSource. I may give them a shot, but only because they’re cassettes.

  1. I think the inherent need to make a toy that fits into the cassette deck really limits the way you can make a decent Frenzy or Rumble figure.

  2. These actually almost work better as Microman MicroChange ‘bots, though they are still a bit on the fugly side of things. Can’t beat the original Aramaki designs. :/

  3. Oh, also Sonicron doesn’t change into a video camera, he turns into a modern, contemporary microcassette dictaphone device, basically the same thing the original Microchange toy changed into but more modernized. The design was taken from one of Guido Guidi’s unused Transformer concepts (much like his Hearts of Steel stuff) and can be found on his DeviantArt page. 🙂
