Star Wars in the 1984 Sears “Specialog” Toy Catalog

As much as I love to discover old Kenner Star Wars action figures and vehicles advertised in newspapers, I think it’s safe to say I’m twice as excited by those same toys in the color catalogs of the seventies and eighties. The grain line art and bizarre artistic license taken with the toys in newspaper ads can be fun, but it’s the color catalogs that most spark memories of childhood.

What’s even more exciting is when I uncover a catalog I had forgotten existed. That’s why this 1984 Sears Specialog album at Flickr is making my Friday far better than it was. Page after page of toys and gifts for kids and all collected into a format that I remembered as soon as I saw the first photo of Jabba and the dungeon playset. Check 12back.com for a lot of great info and pics on the playset (which is a retool of the earlier Droid Factory playset).

Enjoy these two pics, then check the entire Flickr album for all of the toys shown in the 1984 Specialog. The catalog pics will make your Friday a lot more fun.
