Visiting Phat Collectibles in California

I’m in California for work this week and had some free time so when Google Maps said Phat Collectibles (website) was only 4.2 miles away I walked over. And man, was that totally worth the walk!

Click through for pics from the store.

  1. That place looks awesome! We have a similar store around here in the Chicago burbs, but it has most of the newer stoff (from the past 10 years or so). It doesn’t have any of the more vintage stuff! I saw things like Throttlebots, Duocons, cassettes or even Exo-Squad stuff. You must be in heaven!

  2. Always impressed by a ‘niche’ store that keeps itself tidy and proud of its appearance. Would love to check this place out.

  3. If you have the time you need to check out the Frank and Son Collectible Show in Rowland Heights on Saturday. Every Wednesday night and Saturday, it is a warehouse full of toy vendors with every modern toy you can think of.

  4. Ooo…someplace new to check out when I’m foolish enough to fight the traffic down there.

If you’re ever near Redlands (about 40 to 60 miles east from both of these stores), check out Superbad Action Figures – the name pretty much says it all.

  5. Oh, & the Mattel distribution center/store in San Bernardino; I saw a number of MOTU & the like there.

  6. I wish I had more time in the area, but today is spent at a trade show and I fly home tomorrow. Yesterday was my only real chance to look around.

But this is the first I have heard of a Mattel store so that sounds like something I need to try and visit one of these days.
