Review – Tokyo Toy Show Exclusive Transformers Smokescreen

Part of an exclusive package including Dreadwing, Smokesceen here uses the same mold as Sunspot (review here), and it was finding yet another version of this mold — the Asian GDO Laserbeak (last mentioned here) that made me think it was a good time to get Smokescreen onto the site.

And as a repaint of a toy I’ve reviewed before this review will be mostly photos. See my Sunspot review for another look at this mold and for more of my thoughts on the design. The summary? Well, I like this mold enough that I’m starting to look for the original version — Skystalker (see the TFWiki — at a reasonable price. It really is a great Transformers toy design.

What? Is that It?

Yes, and count yourself lucky that I don’t launch into a discussion about how I should have simply grabbed Skystalker the first time I ever saw him on shelves. Don’t you hate it when you pass on a toy and then, months of years later, decide that you do want it and wind up paying more? Why do I keep doing that?

Philip Reed should next open Laserbeak and then take pictures of all three toys together.

  1. I have similar Skystalker woes, I saw him once when he was new and passed since I was a little short on cash and assumed I’d see him again plenty of times. Nope.
