Action Figures Not Included

With Each Sold Separately (Kickstarter page) safely off to the printer I’ve found my mind still thinking about toy marketing in the eighties. It hasn’t helped matters that books like Toy Wars* and The Real Toy Story* have stayed close by my side these last few weeks, but there’s so much fascinating information out there that I just keep digging and digging.

Add on the fact that I completely overlooked games, coloring books, and fan clubs when constructing Each Sold Separately and I think you can see where this is heading. At the moment I have over thirty pages on a companion to Each Sold Separately, with the new book touching on some of the same areas as the last as well as extending its reach into the seventies (and a brief journey to the sixties is also hiding inside the pages).

I’ve got no schedule for this project, but I’m basically free to spend the majority of my time on personal projects for another 10+ days so there’s a good chance I’ll have this completely finished before I return to the office on January 5th. I’m having a lot of fun with all of this research and collecting together scattered bits of information and references to build a second look at action figure marketing in the eighties.

    1. @Jay – Thanks, Jay. I’ll launch the Kickstarter project very soon; my goal is to have everything ready so both books can ship together. Backers of Each Sold Separately are going to be offered a reward level to get this second book at a reduced rate.
