The Masters of the Universe Classics line of the last decade wouldn’t have even existed if not for the toys shown in this 1982 ad, and looking at that rough line art in the ad instills a sense of memory and nostalgia that the Classics line will never touch. The Masters of the Universe Classics toys are truly fabulous, and seeing how far Mattel took the series as a direct-to-fans toyline is impressive, but let’s be honest: They’re not the originals.
