Kickstarter – Rise of the Beasts
There’s just a few more days to go before the Rise of the Beasts project at Kickstarter will successfully close, which means that you’re almost out of time to back this new retro-style toy project. As you can tell by the pics, this is a very Battle Beasts-inspired project and it’s just $25 to get in for a set of four unpainted figures . . . but the toys are also going to be released in a painted form.
Series 1 consists of 4 figures – A Lion, a Gorilla, a Horned Toad and a Komodo Dragon. The first 3 beast’s heroic body styles were partially inspired by classic toy lines like Thundercats, Sectaurs and Masters of the Universe. The 4th is suggestive of the fantastic Battle Beasts line with its squat, muscular proportions. Series 1 will be made of PVC (like M.U.S.C.L.E.s, Battle Beasts, etc.), approximately 60mm tall, available in both painted and non-painted formats, with a weapon and joints at the shoulders. These look serious amazing and have put me over the edge to try Kickstarter. The lion reminds me of a MOS figure more then ThunderCats though.
