“Sci-Fi: Hellion Starbomber” from Military Modeler Magazine in 1984
I shared an old magazine article about kit bashing spaceships back in 2013 and have gone back a few times and looked at the piece. The article, from Fantasy Modeling Magazine in 1980, likely inspired many model fans in the eighties to tackle starships of their own design. And for all we know, that very article inspired Allen Yarberry and this 1984 article (from Military Modeler) showcasing the construction of a sci-fi spaceship of his own design.
The model shown in the article is a combination of scratchbuilt components and parts from existing model kits. The resulting ship looks fantastic, and I like how Yarberry took time to include the starship’s launchbay. Fabulous work from the eighties!
