Review – Iron Man 2 Mark VI (Armored) Car

Line: Marvel * Year: 2010

Reviews of Iron Man action figures and statues is nothing new to battlegrip.com, and we’ve even seen toy car reviews from time to time, but this is the first time I’ve ever reviewed a toy that blends the two into one. And as cool as this Iron Man 2 diecast toy car looks, it’s not quite neat enough for me to buy any other releases in the series.

But let’s not get into that now. For the moment, let’s take a look at the toy and what makes it a design that’s neat but not awesome.

Clearly a Car for an Iron Man

The photos of the car make it obvious that this design was specifically created around the Iron Man Mark VI armor. From the hood design to the sides and rear of the vehicle there are several tiny (and some not so tiny) components that are modeled off of the armor. It’s a neat design, and the bright red and gold coloring drive home the point that this is an Iron Man car.

Rolls Well

The wheels spin freely, but the car doesn’t have the same speed that we see in a Hot Wheels diecast car. Which is kinda sad, since this toy comes in at about three times the price of a basic Hot Wheels car. And that’s where my main complaint with the toy comes in. It’s a fun design, but for the price of this car I could buy three Hot Wheels toy cars; and those cars are guaranteed to have wackier designs available. And when it comes to toy cars I love the weird ones.

It’s Merely Okay

If this had cost $1 I would have grabbed several more in the series. at $3, though, I’ll be happy with the one I have and I’ll ignore the line from here on out. And that’s why this series of Iron Man cars is only for the hardcore Iron Man collector and not for a casual fan of toy cars.

And with that this short review is over. Look at the pics, admire the style, and then you can safely forget that these exist. Because the car just isn’t cool enough to justify buying it instead of three Hot Wheels toy cars.

Philip Reed shall now go out and relax for a little while. It has been a great trip, but he’s tired from attending several meetings and events.

  1. saw these a few days ago look like stocking stuffers to me. tho i kinda digged the war machine one. quick question , i recently picked up the im2 fury of combat and i feel my nick fury needs a cool car. any recommendations hope fully 20 or under if not i was thinking one of the ben 10 cars might do.

  2. This actually looks like something Tony Stark would drive around in. But it needs a mini fridge in the back!

And has this design been reused? Because the arc reactor decal on the hood looks weird because it’s split in the middle.
